All applications are considered by the Dundee Visual Artists Awards Scheme panel. The panel help us achieve a broader perspective on current practice and may be a mix of artists, curators, tutors or other arts professionals. Previous award recipients are always represented on the panel. The panel is supported by the DVAA Scheme Administrator who is a Creative Learning Officer with Dundee City Council. The quality of the artist's work and associated proposal is of the utmost importance. Successful applicants will have demonstrated a level of commitment to their practice and have achieved a body of work outwith formal education. The Panel will consider the following criteria before making an award:
1. the quality of the artist's work
2. the expected impact of the support on the applicant's creative development
3. the clarity of purpose behind the submission and reasons given for applying for an award
4. the quality of the information/ material/ visuals supplied in support of the application
5. the Panel will consider how the application will broadly benefit the artistic community of Dundee. If you are not resident in Dundee you should consider whether an application to one of the other artist award schemes would be more appropriate. (See Other Schemes for more information.) The number and size of grants made will be dependent upon applications received. The Awards panel reserves the right to offer a different amount to that requested.
